Nick and Andie Retro Engagement Session || Ocean Beach and Sunset Cliffs, CA
World, meet Andie and Nick. They are getting married this fall and I cannot wait. You may or may not have seen us stopping traffic and covering some serious ground in Ocean Beach recently. If you missed it not to worry, see photos below.
I was incredibly excited to hang out with these two again and shoot their engagement session after a few months of trying to coordinate a day that worked for all of us. We ended up scheduling it for the most dreamy cloud covered day (in the middle of a week of sunshine). It was perfect.
I loved the ideas they had for their session and could tell there was so much meaning behind why they chose the spots they did. They wanted to stay local in the neighborhood they call home. The first spot they mentioned to me was the local record store in OB, Cow Records. It's a frequented spot for them in their neighborhood and they share a love of records and music of all kinds. I love documenting not only the relationship but little pieces of the story that go with it. This was probably my favorite spot we shot at that day because we had the entire record store to ourselves on that sleepy afternoon and it was a place I could tell they felt at home. Before our session, Andie also came up with the rad idea to do a similar shot as the Abbey Road cover on The Beatles album (notice how I said stopping traffic earlier). More ways to tie into their love of music, their neighborhood and the retro vibes were so stinking cool!
Finally, we made our way to the cliffs to end the session. This truly is an Ocean Beach staple and always the best place to hang out. Andie and Nick put up their hammock and had a serious mini cuddle sesh to wrap up a Southern California June gloom kind of day. There's really not a lot of better ways to end a day like that in my opinion.
I'm always so incredibly grateful for the time I get to spend with my couples and be given the opportunity to invest in their relationship. As we were walking down Newport Ave together we talked a lot about the wedding coming up and I asked them what they are most looking forward to on their wedding day (besides getting married). They both answered with their own specific reasons that seeing family and having everyone together was what they looked forward to most. This wedding is going to be full of intentionality and it will truly be a celebration of who they are.
Andie and Nick, I can't wait to see all the details of your wedding day come together. I can't wait to see you be celebrated by your family and closest friends. I can't wait to witness and document you two becoming husband and wife. Thank-you for allowing me to be a small piece in your story and capturing these treasured moments.
