Ternes Twins Turn One || Balboa Park Family Session
I have a question for you...What's better than a gorgeous park, a sun-shiney day and hanging out with the cutest one year old twin girls and their incredible parents? Not a whole lot!
I met the Ternes family last July for the first time when they had asked me to do the girls newborn photos. From the moment I started corresponding with April (who was pregnant at the time) I was so excited to do their session. Newborns are just the sweetest thing, but twin girlies!? Let's just say baby fever wasn't finding itself a cure anytime soon. As twin parents, I bow down to April and Jeremy. Although I didn't really get a chance to know them before babies were in the picture, I do know how awesome they are now. As a mama-to-be myself, I've been taking pointers when I get to hang around them! They came wonderfully prepared with snacks and toys to our session, but beyond that their attitudes are so laid back and easy going. They go with the flow and really don't seem to sweat the small stuff. Life is full of fun little quirks and babies not being on board with your plans and April and Jeremy take each moment as it comes so gracefully. If one of the girls was over wearing a headband - that was okay. If they needed a toy for a photograph because they were teething - also okay. That is life. I heard April mention this during our session and I loved it. It was such a great little reminder to put in my back pocket (especially when my little babe gets here). Life is unplanned, it can be messy. Sometimes we can get so caught up in making things fit perfectly into place and that's just not how things go. Our homes may not be in order, we might be running a little late, our favorite shirt might have a stain on it and that's okay. This kind of reminds me of a funny quote I saw one time that read, "Sorry our house is a mess, we live here." That quote cracks me up as I think back on all the times I have furiously tried to make the house spotless before company arrives.
The Ternes family will always be some of my favorite people that I get to work with, because their company is just so warm and so easy. I love their outlook and those little reminders to just go with it. Even the girls who just turned one I swear they may be the happiest and most content babies I have ever met in my life. I truly wouldn't have known they were teething if I wasn't told! They just melt my heart (and their precious, big, blue eyes are the best!) They all are always just genuinely themselves and I love that so much.
Thank you April and Jeremy for choosing me to document these precious milestones in your family. I will continuously be striving to have that same mindset that you all seem to effortlessly have. I know marriage, and family, and life is hard work, but you four make it also look so beautiful. Happy 1st birthday V + H!
