California Retro Spring Mini Sessions

Spring mini sessions are a new favorite for me!! These mini sessions happened at Gud Times Studio in La Mesa, California, which was just the perfect venue for the type of photoshoots we were going for. Having such a variety of people come through to get their pictures taken, including little ones, graduates, siblings, families, couples, and even people wanting to get creative headshots done, keeps me on my toes and makes the job so much fun. I feel so lucky that I get to interact and get creative with so many different people on a daily basis. 

Our inspiration for these minis was “California retro spring.” We wanted to keep it simple while also bringing in pops of fun and bright color for those feel good, retro type vibes. We used a retro red and crushed velvet love seat as our main prop, and the floral design, which was done by the super talented Nicole Burbank Events who I was so excited to collaborate with, brought all the fresh, spring vibes to the sessions.

Since these spring minis took place around Mother’s Day, I decided to give away a mama’s day themed gift basket to one of the families who signed up for a session. The basket included all local San Diego gifts and goodies from Shop WyandLo, Moniker General, Pigment, and Favela Bonita. I always try to shop local when I can, because it is so important to support the community that you live in.

Connecting with my community is why I love my job as a wedding and lifestyle photographer so much, so these spring mini sessions were just what I needed to refresh my creativity and my soul. Thank you to all the beautiful people that were a part of this with me.
