Rachel and Mike Engagement Session || Ocean Beach, San Diego

If I didn't know any better, I would think that I was living in Seattle currently. The amount of rain that San Diego has been getting (praise God!) is incredible! We've been having weeks of rain which is pretty uncommon for San Diego. The forecast seemed to miraculously clear up for just enough time to get a sweet little sunshine-y OB engagement session in though!

Rachel, Mike, and I headed to the beach to capture them in this neighborhood they have been calling home for some years now. Ocean Beach plays a special role in their relationship and they wanted to find a way to include it in their wedding planning process since they aren't getting married in Ocean Beach.

It was just as typical as any other sunny, San Diego, weekend day on the beach. locals and tourists flocked the beach to soak in some long forgotten sun (wow, that was dramatic) and to watch the sunset.

Despite being surrounded by people, we seemed to find the perfect little pockets of beach to ourselves where Mike and Rachel could let loose a little bit and just have some fun together. Some of my favorite parts of any session are not necessarily when I'm shooting, but when I'm walking with the couple. These are the moments when I get to just talk to them, ask more about them, and laugh with them. I get to know them and they get to know me. I'm not there to just take some cool photos and then leave, I like to invest myself into each couple I meet and work with and form a relationship with them. I want to learn your story and I want to try and capture it as beautifully as you tell it and have experienced it.

Rachel and Mike - you two are so sweet and I would hang out with you any day! Bonus that I live so close to you! I love the story of you two kindling your relationship on a random New Years Eve and I couldn't be more excited for you to tie the knot this fall.
